As it turns out, video didn’t kill radio – and neither has the Internet. That’s the insight behind Joburg Radio Days, a unique conference held in October 2009 to unpack the challenges and prospects of the medium in Africa in the 21st Century. The conference, hosted by the Wits Radio Academy, brought top international speakers to Johannesburg to consider the future of radio as medium and as industry. Aimed at radio leaders from South Africa and other African countries, Joburg Radio Days drew all sectors - community, commercial and public – into a conversation about the issues that confront them.
The event was supported by Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle, and Kagiso Media, a major player in SA radio.
